Countywide Mitzvah Day
May 04, 2014
ONE GOOD DEED WILL LEAD TO ANOTHER
MITZVAH DAY IS SUNDAY, MAY 4TH
The Jewish Federation of Greater Orange County and the Newburgh Jewish Community Center have put together a community-wide day of service which offers volunteers of all ages, with loving hands and willing hearts, an opportunity to go out and make a difference. The day begins with breakfast for the volunteers at 9:30AM at Temple Sinai in Middletown.
A Blood Drive and Bone Marrow Drive will be held at 10AM at Temple Sinai. Other projects include; making Mother’s Day corsages at Elant in Goshen, donations and clean up at Pets Alive in Middletown and the Walden Humane Society, gardening at Winslow Therapeutic in Warwick, cleanup with free lunch at Gomez Mill House in Marlboro and yard work at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Monroe.
In addition, there are several drop-off collections; Head Start needs school supplies and snacks which can be brought to Temple Beth El in Port Jervis, household items and clothing can be brought to St. Mary’s Parrish in Newburgh, non-perishables can be brought to the Town of Montgomery Food Pantry and supermarket gift cards will be collected at the Newburgh JCC.
You must register online for all projects except drop-offs at www.jewishorangeny.org, where details, times and location addresses can be found. For the blood and bone marrow drive, please call Debbie Sanford at 845-561-6602.
