Award-winning photographer Philip Hopp specializes in landscape photography. Hopp has had exhibitions of his work in the Orange County Building, the Museum of the Hudson Highlands and also at Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Michigan. Mr. Hopp has exhibited and sold his works at Riverfest, Cornwall-on-Hudson, and at the Town of Cornwall Fall Festival sidewalk sale
Mr. Hopp started taking portrait and wedding photography before pursuing other careers. He has worked in printing, been a New York City fireman and a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. Hopp has also worked as the health and safety representative for the American Federation of Government Employee’s Local 2367, West Point, where he was employed. He is the past treasurer of the Knights of Columbus council in Cornwall-on-Hudson.
Mr. Hopp is, and has been, involved in local and national environmental issues for the past few years, working with C.U.R.E. (Citizens United for a Responsible Environment), with Josh Clelan, formally of Scenic Hudson, and also with CASH (Citizens Alliance for a Safe Harbor).
While on a trip to the Grand Canyon, in July 1997, Mr. Hopp was inspired to return again to photography as a means of presenting the beauty of the earth’s environment and to inspire others to get involved in helping to protect our earth.
Mr. Hopp is a cancer survivor and now a laryngectomee.
