Letters to the Editor: Election 2022: Skoufis Is Needed

Skoufis Is Needed
10/4/16

Our representative in the 99th district will have more responsibilities than ever before, requiring a proven effective leader. We are fortunate to have one in James Skoufis. Assemblyman Skoufis is a tireless ally, fighting for the people, against special interest groups. Time and time again he has reached across party lines to initiate and/or help pass legislation that benefited his constituents.

A few of the issues Assemblyman Skoufis has addressed are: unmask the true identities of shell LLC’s, made banks accountable to maintain their so called Zombie Properties, secured funding to repave the Palisades Parkway, increased the commuter transit tax deduction, fought hostile annexation attempts, secured funding to repave Route 32 from Timber Trail to the Woodbury-Cornwall Border and made St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital agree to reevaluate its decision to close its Emergency Room. The list goes on.

This election is about results as much as qualifications. Not party affiliations. James Skoufis is a Democrat. However, I feel the same about Senator Bill Larkin, who is a Republican. They are two of the best we have in elected office today.

I’ve worked with Assemblyman Skoufis on several issues in the past. He has demonstrated a unique ability to resolve matters fairly while gaining the respect of those involved on both sides of the issue. This is an admirable trait.

James Skoufis is a dedicated public servant who takes his fiduciary duty very seriously. He is always accessible and not just during election time. Doesn’t he deserve two more years?

Respectfully,

George Sewitt,
Highland Mills, NY
