Reimagining Youth Summer Reading

CORNWALL, NY – Cornwall Public Library’s Summer Reading Program is set to launch on June 24. Though our Summer Reading theme is Imagine Your Story, we’ve had to re-imagine our Summer Reading Program several times. While the library staff miss our usual, in-person programming, our hope is that young library patrons will find the at-home challenges tons of fun and a great way to keep happy, healthy, exercising their reading muscles, and stretching their creative powers.

There is more than one way a family can enjoy Summer Reading 2020. After registering online (starting June 24) parents and children can print a Summer Reading Program (SRP) Game Board or head to the library and pick up a printed copy on the designated table outside. There are game boards for different age/grade levels. Children are encouraged to complete the SRP Game Board, having lots of fun along the way!

Check out our Summer Reading Program Calendar of virtual events. We are offering some old favorites, such as Virtual PJ Story Time, Virtual Dog Tales and Teen Writers Strike Back on Zoom. We also have some unique performers lined up for July. Don’t miss our Storycrafters program on July 23 with Barry Marshall and Jeri Burns, PhD, recipients of the National Storytelling Network’s “Circle of Excellence” Award. We also have a Hogwarts-themed Wizard Academy program with veteran performer David Engel on July 28 via Facebook and youtube. Some events do require pre-registration. To register, use the online calendar or give us a call at 845-534-8282.

Don’t forget to connect with us often via social media to enjoy live story times, new videos, guest performers and “Take & Make” opportunities. Be sure to check our website and Facebook page often for any changes & last-minute additions we may have this summer.
