Lynn Beesecker

October 26, 2012

Lynn Beesecker, an attorney handling civil and local court criminal cases from a solo practice office on Main Street in Cornwall since 2000, is making a run for office as the Democratic, Independence, Green and Working Families Party candidate for Cornwall Town Justice. Beesecker has been an attorney for 35 years and he thinks it’s time to put his legal knowledge to work as a judge.

People who have seen Beesecker on the Little League playing fields, where he has been the umpire in chief and now is a vice president, may not have realized that when he is not calling a game he is in his law office or pursuing other volunteer work around town. He’s lived in Cornwall since the 1980's, having first come to Cornwall in the 1960's sharing a weekend place with friends. He has raised three children here with his wife, Lana. That’s how he first got involved in Little League, when the children played t-ball. He has also coached soccer, been a scout leader, served as a trustee of the United Methodist Church and is a member of the Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce.

Beesecker, age 64, says that if he is elected as Town Justice in the election on November 6 that he will judge each case fairly and objectively, drawing on his years representing clients in civil litigation and personal injury cases. He has already been deciding these cases for over 20 years as a state Office of Court Administration approved attorney who is assigned as arbitrator to hear overflow cases pulled from local court calendars.

He knows that, if elected, he would be working with Judge Navarra who holds the other Town Justice position. "I have know Frank for many years, first as a neighbor around the corner when our children were young and then as a capable attorney and fair and diligent judge. I fully expect to be able to work effectively with him in managing the court and handling the active calendar we have here in Cornwall".
