Randy Clark
November 03, 2011

Randy Clark entered office as a town councilman eight years ago, continuing a pattern of community involvement that runs in his family.

Asked what civic organizations he has belonged to, the 52-year-old Clark rattles off the Jaycees, the, Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, and the Lions Club, along with stints as a commissioner of the Boy Scouts and a coach with the Little League. A former Independent who became a Republican eight years ago, Clark has continued his independent streak and has never been backed by the local Republican committee. At town board meetings, Clark often challenges the status quo, and asks a lot of questions of his fellow board members.

A professional financial planner with an office on Main Street where his family has operated a business for more than 100 years, Clark likes to bring his business knowledge to the council chambers. In the past year, he has introduced a proposal to create a dog run at Angola Road Park that he believes provides a good use to an otherwise under-utilized town park. He also served briefly as the town liaison to the New York Military Academy when its future was uncertain last year.

As one of two candidates to win the Republican primary, Clark will be running as the Republican candidate on election day, as well as the candidate of the Cornwall First party, which he formed.

"Clark often challenges the status quo, and asks a lot of questions of his fellow board members"

This seems to be the right choice in local government. People across the Nation are challenging the people who serve us. It is about time that one of those who has been elected by the people challenges his own constituents. The questions asked are rarely answered truthfully, but the message is clear. Accountability in local government should be balanced, expressed and acted on. This is why I have no doubt that this republican candidate has all the makings of a true representative of the Cornwall community. Thank you Mr. Clark for your dedicated service to Cornwall. November 8th should prove that a balanced government can be achieved.
