Maureen Moore took these photos earlier this week. She writes that she was checking on an eagle's nest and their offspring and one of the pair of eagles was sitting on a tree branch out in the open.
As I was watching and photographing the eagle, it suddenly took off into flight. I followed the eagle with my camera and realized there was another bird in my lense. A turkey vulture had attempted to attack the nest and the eagle chased the vulture.
The encounter lasted about 20 seconds with both birds actually looking like they were wrestling in the sky. The vulture eventually flew down into a bunch of trees and escaped from the eagle.
