I beleive this would fall under the request for an audit by the state comproller that I made at the last meeting. here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f06zBRwmCKk it is also at ArgenioAndrew in the youtube search box. I also think it would be interesting to view the public comment period where this subject (village water) was brought up several times. here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwkU8L6mO1M It is also found by going to youtube and searching my channel ArgenioAndrew. We declined to buy 100k on wells and spent 5 million on a water treatment plant that relies on dams that we havent even done an inspection on that complies with the DEC regulations.

That means that Cornwall residents with a 25 year old toilet pay 7.28 cents per flush.. that's absurd. I am going to start collecting rain water..

Free barrels can be had at any carwash. I collect plenty of water for all plantings every year with two 35 gallon barrels. One small rain into a ten foot gutter fills both. I ran dry only once this summer.

Bob.
Your toilet flushes 500g per flush?
Seems the village could use that come March. Maybe counter sink it into the floor of the 1st office on the right when you walk into Village Hall.

If his toilet used 500 gallons per flush, he'd be paying $790 per poop. My most recent Village water bill, when I do the math, shows that one gallon of water costs us .0158 cents, including sewerage.

Belay that. $79 per poop.

Richard/Stephan, You both failed Math 101. My point was: toilet uses 5 gallons per flush 1000 gallons water costs $14.56 1000 g divided by 5g flush =200 flushes per $14.56..... $14.56 divided by 200 flushes equals SEVEN CENTS per flush.note this does not include disposal fees (sewerage rate)..my point is that at $14.56 per thousand gallons Cornwall residents pay significantly more than the rest of the country. Don't believe it, Google "highest water rates in US. And yes Richard, next March we can flush our problems away at Village Hall

Richard, I wasn't commenting on the actual cost of your toilet (or the "25-year-old toilet" you were using as an example), since I had no idea what the gallons-per-flush figure was. I was simply pointing out that Bachmann's "500 gallons per flush" was way off, because you certainly weren't paying $79 per flush.
And beyond that, I was using my Village costs--I have no idea what town costs are--and was factoring in the disposal fee, which seems only logical for a toilet.
So where exactly did I "fail Math 101"?

Nancy quoted that Town residents pay $14.56 per 1000g
Bob said per flush he paid $7.28.
If $7.28 is half of $14.56 per 1000g then $7.28 per flush equals 500g.
Reading comprehension much? MENSA called, they want their wallet card back fellas'.

Um, ah, indeed...you're right. Never was any good at math anyway. so where do I send the Mensa card?

This is an old article but I had to jump in here. Bob's original post says: "7.28 cents per flush". That's 7.28 CENTS per flush ($.0728) not $7.28 per flush. :)
Regardless, it *would* be nice to know why the water in Cornwall is so darned expensive.
