Karen Schaack was one of the organizers of the Hudson River Day at Donahue Memorial Park and she spent most of the afternoon of the historic day working with children who had come to build boats out of cardboard and other supplies.
While down on the ground with the children, she took these photos of their boat-building activities and captured a couple of shots of Mayor Gross as he came by for a look.
Later, as she boarded her own boat to greet the flotilla, Karen took a photo of the crowds gathered at the riverfront for the event.
