Bob Langston took the top photo of birds at his bird feeders during Sunday's snowfall. He notes that he put up a couple more bird feeders in his side yard this week and the birds were having a field day this morning. Thistle seed in this type feeder is not squirrel accessible.
The second photo, of a red tail hawk, was taken by editor Nancy Peckenham. The hawk sat in a tree near her house for an hour until it spotted a small animal then it left its perch, grabbed the animal and flew off with its next meal.
