Cornwall Public Library Hosts a Safe, Socially-Distanced Great Give Back

CORNWALL, NY – For the second year, Cornwall Public Library is hosting an event called The Great Give Back. Through this statewide initiative, the library is providing an opportunity for public library patrons to participate in meaningful, service-oriented experiences. This year, because of coronavirus concerns, the library is sponsoring two socially-distanced activities that allow patrons to serve their communities in safe ways.

Patrons of all ages can connect with those in need through our Cards for Seniors Initiative. Starting on October 9, patrons can pick up card-making kits at the library, make a card at home, and then drop it off at the library at the curbside table. This is a great way to brighten a Senior’s day -- especially for those who may be unable to connect with others due to the pandemic. Drop-off cards by October 17, and library staff will deliver them to a local nursing home.

Patrons can also help clean up their neighborhoods through our Community Trash Pickup. Starting on October 9, anyone can pick up a trash bag at the library, find trash in your neighborhood, and add it to your trash at home. The library reminds patrons to always use caution when picking up trash from roadsides and that adults should supervise children.
