Obituaries: Obituary: Margaret Clauson Knight

April 17, 2008

MARJORIE C. KNIGHT, 90
January 8, 1918 – April 15, 2008

Marjorie Clauson Knight, a remarkable woman, passed away on April 15, 2008.

The daughter of Alrick and Viola Clauson, Marjorie was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Throughout her life Marjorie cherished her parents, and took great pride in her Swedish heritage.

The quick mind and keen intellect that later became one of her finest characteristics actually caused trouble during Marjorie’s school days: she talked too much in class. Eager to move forward, Marjorie graduated early and attended both business and nursing schools. She became a nurse and served in health care for 50 years.

In 1940 Marjorie married Robert Ashdown Knight. They moved to Cornwall-on-Hudson in 1949. The Knights became active in the Cornwall Presbyterian Church, and also enjoyed square dancing  also she was a member of Eastern Star.  Robert was taken far too soon, at the age of 42, leaving Marjorie alone to raise their three sons, Robert, Alrick and Jeffrey.

Marjorie Knight was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a caregiver. She was an Elder in her church and a mentor to many. She was a woman of great faith.

Marjorie leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, Alrick and Sue Knight; her son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Veronica Knight; her grandchildren: Alrick, Jr., Renae, Vicki Jean, Brandon and Robert; four great-grandchildren; and many cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Ashdown Knight; her son, Robert Peder Knight; and her great-grandson, Dominick Allen Kreck.

Visitation will be on Sat. 4/19/2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM  at Quigley Bros Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson  NY
