Obituaries: Nicholas Anthony Corea

October 20, 2021

NICHOLAS ANTHONY COREA
December 30, 1964 – October 14, 2021
Cornwall, NY

Nicholas Anthony Corea of Cornwall, NY, entered into eternal rest on October 14, 2021 at Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY after a brief illness. He was 56 years old.

The son of the late Nicholas A. Corea and Mary Louise (Altmann) Corea, Nick was born on December 30, 1964 in Cornwall, NY.

Nick’s culinary talents were shared in various establishments in New York and Colorado. In 2001, Nick opened Nicky’s at the Storm King Theater. It was for New Year’s Eve in 2001, that Nick created Nicky’s New Year’s Eve Ball Drop, which continues to be held every year in the Village Square. This year will be its 20th year anniversary.

Nick had an incredibly deep range of passions that spoke volumes about his character. His altruistic nature and comedic sharpness resonated with many-creating friendships and first impressions that lasted a lifetime. Nick was a brilliant chef, an artistic soul, a captivating storyteller with a larger than life personality. His kindness was treasured by more people than he ever knew. The rock of our family has crumbled. Nick’s presence will be so greatly missed but his impact will live on with all of us forever.

Nick is survived by his loving mother: Mary Louise Corea at home; his sister: Patricia Ann Corea of Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY; and 4 nieces and nephews: John Lujan, Nikki Lujan Fraad, Rebecca Lujan and Michael Lujan. He is also survived by many cousins, friends and will be missed by the whole community.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20th, at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 21st at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. Cremation will follow at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY.

Based on new CDC guidelines adopted by NYS, fully vaccinated individuals do not need to wear masks or be socially distanced, but unvaccinated individuals must continue to wear masks and be socially distanced in the funeral home.

The funeral mass on Thursday 10/21/21 at 11:00 am EST will be live streamed on Facebook for all those who are unable to attend.
