Obituaries: Henry Constable Jr.

July 24, 2021

HENRY COSTABEL, JR.
September 1, 1931 – July 22, 2021
Cornwall, NY

My Life by
Henry Costabel Jr. (Mr C.)
9/1/31 - 7/22/21

I had a wonderful life. Knew my honey, Bettyjane Odell Costabel for 70 years. Married for 66 years. Have three loving children that raised beautiful families.

Henry III, Elizabeth Costabel, Cameron Costabel; Louis, Katherine Costabel, Whitnee, Tom and River Skobla; Jane, Tito Maisonet, Bruce, Megan, and Miles and Emma McDonald; Kara, PJ, and Georgia and Juliette Ferris; Alyssa, Ryan, and Charlotte Velez; Kelsey, Anthony, Vinny and Victoria Armiento; Matthew, Sheri and Juniper McDonald, and son-in- law, Bruce McDonald.

I was born in NY, NY of Italian immigrants , Marie Pauline Pons Costabel & Henry Costabel Sr. Being from northern Italy we are Protestants, proudly known as Waldensians. I spoke Italian, French and Patois. I grew up in Manhattan and attended P.S. 166, Joan of Arc, Bronx School of Science, Cornwall High School, Upsala College and NYU. I taught history at North Junior High School for 44 years and loved every day. My students made teaching so rewarding. After they graduated and I would run into them, I would always kid and say they owed me homework. I also taught many of their children and grandchildren. I had such good, fun times with my co-workers.

My memories of our children are so vivid. Such fun and love. Building together, helping each other, taking trips, talking, playing cards and teaching the boys to be the best bartenders.

I lived in an old farm house that took us years to finish and loved every board and nail. My life was full. Full of love. I'll miss playing grab ass with Betty and all the hugs, kisses, dancing and playing cribbage.

The only regret - I didn't quite make 90. What a party that would have been. Please tell all the fun stories and keep everyone laughing.

Thank you to all my doctors in Newburgh over the years, and John and staff Hazards Pharmacy. I had wonderful car at St. Lukes and Westchester Medical Center.

But God won and I am content and at peace.

Love to all,
Henry
