Orange County Land Trust, Occupations and Sanctuary for Animals to Benefit from 2010 Country Roads Fall Foliage Bike Tour
The Orange County Land Trust, Occupations, Inc and Sanctuary for Animals have been named this year’s beneficiaries of the annual Country Roads Fall Foliage Bike Tour. Presented by the Orange County Bicycle Club and Occupations, Inc, this year’s tour is set for Sunday, October 3 beginning at the historic Brotherhood Winery in Washingtonville.
Proceeds raised from this year’s bicycle tour, which in past years has attracted up to 1,500 riders from across the region, will benefit open space preservation, children with special needs, and abused working animals cared for at the Sanctuary for Animals. Participants can choose routes of 14 miles, 24, 48 or 69 miles along rural roads that highlight the scenic natural areas and rolling farmland of Orange County. The bicycle tour is perfect for riders of all abilities, from families with young children to experienced, longer distance riders. Frequent rest stops are located along each route offering water and other beverages, plates of fruit and home baked cookies.
All rides begin and end at Brotherhood Winery with entertainment, prizes, music and a picnic banquet provided by Loughran’s Irish Pub of Salisbury Mills. Specially labeled bottles of Country Roads Fall Foliage wine, produced for the event by Brotherhood Winery, will be available for purchase. Start times are staggered so that participants return to the winery for the festivities at about the same time.
Registration information is available at www.ocbicycleclub.org. Fees are $30 per person/$5 per child in advance and $40 per person/$10 per child the day of the event.
