Wacky and Wild Weather
On Saturday, Saturday, January 19, at 10 a.m., the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum presents, “Wacky and Wild Weather” at the Outdoor Discovery Center, on Muser Drive, across from 174 Angola Road, Cornwall. Join Environmental Educator Judy Onufer, to find out the truths and myths behind weather prediction. “Today’s Farmer’s Almanac bases its forecast, in part, on sunspot activity”, says Onufer. “Many weather predictors that date back from maritime culture centuries ago are based on valid scientific climatology principles.” Is it true that when there is a red sky bad weather is coming or if the leaves of the trees show their underside a big storm is on the way? Long before Doppler radar, weather was predicated by observing patterns in nature and animal habits. Come learn the fascinating science behind weather folkore!
