THIS PRODUCTION OF ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST BELOVED MUSICALS WILL BE PRESENTED AT THE THEATRE AT THE RAILROAD PLAYHOUSE ON THE HISTORIC HUDSON RIVER WATERFRONT, 27 S. WATER STREET, NEWBURGH, NEW YORK.
This family-friendly musical based on the lives of the Trapp Family Singers, features songs which have become icons of American music: "Do Re Mi", "Climb Ev'ry Mountain", "My Favorite Things", "The Sound of Music", and many more! Directed and choreographed by the Hudson Valley's own Award winning Joyce A. Presutti, Executive Artistic Director of Just Off Broadway, Inc., with Music and Vocal Direction by Cornwall resident and Berklee School of Music student Patrick Hoagland with Paul O. Davis Conducting certain performances, The Sound of Music is classic Musical Theatre for the whole family!
This outstanding cast stars NYC Equity Guest Artist Sally Swallow (last season's spectacular Narrator in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat") as Maria; Hudson Valley favorites Maryellen Nelligar as Mother Abbess; from the Opera Company of the Highlands, Andrew Benson as Captain Von Trapp; and James Pillmeier as Max. Cat Capolupo as Elsa, Pierce Davis as Rolf, and introducing Cornwall High School Junior Brooke Garfinkel as Leisl; Featuring local students as the Von Trapp Children are: Preston Davis as Friedrich, Amy Knips as Louisa, Hayley Knips as Brigitta, Marcos Penaherrera as Kurt, Alex Thurtle as Marta, and alternating as Gretl will be Hailey Leonard and Kya Stein. Jodi S. Davis is Sister Margaretta, NYC Opera Soloist Kirstin Olson is Sister Berthe, and Lee Steup is Sister Sophia. From JOB, Inc.'s Pirates of Penzance and Seussical will be Hannah Blair as Frau Schmidt and AJ Hankins as Franz; Kevin McDonnell is Herr Zeller, Michael Steup is Admiral Von Schrieber, and the Youths of the Reich will be led by Marlboro High School Senior John Marro. The Sisters of Nonnberg Abbey are Jessica Alberts, Nastasha Carrasquillo, Venus Murphy, Hannah Rivette, Kai Whitehead, and Rachel Skigen. The Production Manager is Ed Romanoff.
