Wild, Edible and Medicinal Plant Walk
Middletown, NY (OCLT): The Orange County Land Trust will hold its very popular Wild, Edible and Medicinal Plant Walk on Saturday, August 11 beginning at 10 a.m. on a former farm now protected with a conservation easement held by Orange County Land Trust.
This event is open to the public and is appropriate for all ages and levels of experience and knowledge. The Land Trust’s volunteer foraging guide will identify summer greens, nuts, berries, fruits, wild flowers, herbs and other plants that grow in the wild and are edible, have medicinal value, are decorative and/or poisonous. These may include dandelions, plantain, sorrel, purslane, lamb's quarters, burdock, pokeweed, milkweed, assorted mustards and mints, cattail, jewelweed and many others.

A donation of $5 per person or $10 per family is suggested with all proceeds benefiting the future stewardship of conserved lands held by the OCLT. For more information, visit www.oclt.org/calendar. Orange County Land Trust is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection of Orange County’s natural, open spaces and working farmland. Since 1993, the Land Trust has helped preserve nearly 4,500 acres of land in communities throughout Orange County, including twelve working farms. The Land Trust owns and manages ten nature preserves, seven which are open to the public, free of charge, for hiking, birding and other forms of passive recreation. Two preserves comprise land that is leased to farmers for hay and corn production.
