Hike Sugar Loaf Mountain
The Orange County Citizens Foundation will sponsor a hike of Sugar Loaf Mountain followed by a picnic at its headquarters, the Kurt and Arlette Seligmann Homestead and Art Galleries on Saturday, June 11th. Because there is no public access to the Mountain at this time, the day has been arranged especially for the Citizens Foundation and its guests.
Participants will meet at the Kurt Seligmann Homestead and Studios located at 23 White Oak Drive in Sugar Loaf at 8:45 am. At 9 am, a tractor-drawn wagon donated by Bellvale Farms will take hikers to the trailhead to begin the moderate-level trek (with a more difficult option at the end) up the scenic mountain.
Citizens Foundation Pathways Committee member Gene Giordano will lead the hike. After the approximately 90 minute round trip trek, hikers will be taken back to the Kurt Seligmann Homestead and Art Galleries for a picnic lunch.
The entire day is free to Orange County Citizens members. Adult non-members are $15 and children ages 2-12 are $10, with a cap of $40 per family. Any individual or family that joins on the day of the event will be free of charge.
