Introductory Course on Beekeeping
Learn how to get started with this fascinating and rewarding hobby
at the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum
Cornwall - On Sunday, January 18 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum will be presenting an Introductory Course on Beekeeping. Join Beekeeper Darren Fogarty and environmental educator Pam Golben to learn the fascinating basics of beekeeping at the Outdoor Discovery Center, on Muser Drive, across from 174 Angola Road, Cornwall. “Beekeeping is the art of keeping honey bees for honey, beeswax and other bee products” said Golben, Director of the Wildlife Education Center. “It is a fascinating and beneficial hobby given that bee populations are declining.” This four hour program will provide information including: basic bee biology, where to order bees, what you need to get started, common problems and what actual hives look like! This beekeeping course requires prepaid registration and is for adults and teens ages 15 and up. Admission: $45. Museum Members: $35. Please bring a bag lunch. For information and online registration go to hhnm.org or call (845) 534-5506, ext 204.
