Handmade Books Workshop
This workshop for beginners will be led by teaching artist Barbara Smith-Gioia and calligrapher, bookmaker Rita Ponessa from 2 to 4 pm at The Grail Cottage, 119 Duncan Avenue, Cornwall-on-Hudson.
There is a $10 materials fee.
An introduction to the art of handmade books. Includes overview of materials, tools, and demonstration. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own soft cover book using the Japanese stab binding technique. Everyone will take home a beautiful handmade book to be used as a journal or sketchbook.
Teaching artist, Barbara Smith-Gioia, is the Director of Summer Arts Education programs at the Garrison Arts Center. She was the Curator and Producer of River Journey, an outdoor sculpture exhibit at Cornwall Landing summer 2009.
