Peach Canning Workshop
Join us for a Peachy Time this Labor Day Weekend. Help (and learn) to Preserve the Goodness of Summer. Your grandmother knew how – now you can, too!
CANNING PEACHES: Saturday Morning, Sept.1 9:30-11:30
Group lesson/work session in how to prepare and can peaches, and by extension, other fruits, tomatoes and other vegetables. It's the lowest carbon footprint you can obtain. Bring along quart mason jars to re-use.
FREEZING PEACHES: Saturday Afternoon, Sept.1 2:30-4:30
Group lesson/work session in how to prepare and freeze peaches and other fruits and vegetables. We'll learn the tricks of blanching, preventing freezer burn and discoloration.
MAKING PEACH JAM: Sunday Afternoon Sept 2 2:30-4:30
Group lesson/work session on how to make fruit jam. Decode the mysteries of pectin, find out how you can do this yourself at home. Bring lots of those little glass jars (with lids) you've been collecting all winter!
Cost: $15 per workshop. Registration required.
