Rumors
Take a play by a contemporary comic genius, add a beautiful outdoor venue with an amazing set and an even more amazing backdrop, populate the set with wonderful local and not-so-local talent, and you have the Palaia Vineyard's production of Neil Simon's "Rumors," as performed by the Vineyard Comedy Players.
In “Rumors”, four couples gather at the beautiful home of their closest friends to celebrate their wedding anniversary. When they get there, they discover the host has been shot, the hostess is missing, and the help is nowhere to be found. Throw in a severely damaged car, Steuben Glass, whiplash, recurring back spasms, a couple of police officers and rumors galore, and you’ve got the makings of a party you won’t soon forget.
“Rumors” was Neil Simon’s first foray into the wonderful world of farce, and he plunders and pillages with the best of them. He has a gift for taking commonplace comments, objects, events and relationships and spinning them into rib-cracking humor. "Rumors" has nothing on its mind but to attack the funny bone, and it is pretty relentless.
Show Dates: Thursday, July 8, through Sunday, July 11. All shows start at 7pm (rain or shine).
