Print Mania: An exhibition of prints by John, Paul, and William Gould

The Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum presents:

Print Mania: An exhibition of prints by John, Paul, and William Gould

Sunday, August 1 – Thursday, September 30, 2010

The art of the Gould family, the legendary dynasty of Hudson Valley artists, includes many media. John Fleming Gould (1906-1996) was one of the country’s best-known illustrators, poster artists, and gallery painters during his long and distinguished working life, and his sons have achieved notable careers of their own: William Gould as a fine-art photographer and Paul Gould as a painter have been widely recognized for their popular local and regional as well as international scenes. Together with their brother Robert they have maintained the Bethlehem Art Gallery, the first art gallery in the region, founded by their parents in Salisbury Mills more than half a century ago.
The Karpeles Museum will assemble the largest collection ever presented of matted and framed prints of the three artists, including signed and numbered limited editions of fine-art lithographs, serigraphs, and giclées of early advertising art and magazine illustration by John Gould and scenes of the Hudson Valley, New England, Ireland, France, and Portugal by his sons.

The Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum is located at 94 Broadway, across from City Hall, in the City of Newburgh. The Karpeles Museums are a national chain with nine in the U.S., specializing in the preservation and display of original, historically significant documents and manuscripts. Museum Hours: Thu.-Sat., 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, 12 to 4 p.m.

Admission is always free.
