Tai Chi for Beginners

The Orange County Land Trust will hold Tai Chi for Beginners at Moonbeams Preserve in the Town of Wallkill on Sunday, September 19 and Sunday, September 26 beginning at 1 pm.

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese form of exercise that has many health benefits for both mind and body, promoting a sense of well-being, vitality and inner calm. A series of gentle, flowing movements encourages the body to let go of stress and tension and promotes the free circulation of Chi, or life energy throughout the body. People who practice Tai Chi see improvements in balance and flexibility, strength, clarity and mood.

Two 1 1/2-hour sessions are planned in the meadow at Moonbeams Preserve, the Land Trust’s 150-acre nature preserve at the base of the Shawangunk Ridge. No experience is necessary and the class is appropriate for all ages. Comfortable clothing and water is recommended. Directions to the preserve can be found online at www.oclt.org/mmoonbeam.htm or by calling the office at (845) 343-0840, x12.

Participants may register for one or both sessions by calling the Orange County Land Trust at (845) 343-0840, x12. A suggested donation of $5 per person or $10 per family is greatly appreciated with all proceeds benefitting land protection in Orange County.
