Orange Co. Citizens Foundation Dinner
Tickets are available for the Orange County Citizens Foundation’s 2010 Annual Dinner and Presentation of the Ottaway Medal. This year, the Citizens Foundation will honor Roberta “Bobbie” Glinton with the prestigious quality of life award. The event will be held on May 6th at the Falkirk Estate & Country Club beginning at 5 PM.
“Bobbie has been an avid advocate for the underserved in our community,” said Citizens Foundation President Nancy Proyect. “She exemplifies the award’s intent to honor those who have exhibited an outstanding commitment to enhancing quality of life in Orange County.”
Ms. Glinton is a retired nurse who now owns and operates Hawk’s Nest Realty in Port Jervis. She is a devoted volunteer focused on children, education and services for the sick, elderly and underserved. She helped establish the first migrant workers health clinic in Orange County as well as the first Meals-on-Wheels program here and the first medical services program at the Orange County Jail.
A resident of Port Jervis, Ms. Glinton has been active in several charities and nonprofit organizations including SUNY Orange, Bon Secours Hospital, the Port Jervis Housing Authority, Project Teens, the American Cancer Society and the Port Jervis Council for the Arts.
The Ottaway Medal is named in honor of Ruth and James Ottaway Sr. who set the bar for local community involvement years ago. The couple helped to found the Citizens Foundation and also lent personal and financial support to many other community treasures.
Instead of printing a commemorative journal in Ms. Glinton’s honor, donations in tribute to Bobbie Glinton will fund an expanded Health & Human Services Report within the upcoming 2011 Orange County Quality of Life Report produced by the Citizens Foundation. Tribute donations will be recognized in the Ottaway Medal Dinner program and in the upcoming published report. Email Nancy Proyect at [email protected] to make a tribute donation.
The Ottaway Medal Dinner is a major fundraiser for the Orange County Citizens Foundation, a charitable non-profit organization whose mission is to create the environment that betters the lives of Orange County residents. Tickets are $85 for Foundation members, $95 for non-members. Tables of 10 are $765. Reservations can be made online at www.occitizensfoundation.org or by calling 845-469-9459.
Corporate sponsors of the Ottaway Medal dinner are the Ottaway Family, Advance Testing Company, Jacobowitz and Gubits, LLP, Orange Regional Medical Center and Rider, Weiner, Frankel.
