Lorraine Weinberg Memorial Opera
CORNWALL PUBLIC LIBRARY BRINGS BACK THE LORRAINE WEINBERG MEMORIAL OPERA
CORNWALL – The Cornwall Public Library is happy to announce the return of the annual Lorraine Weinberg Memorial Opera on Sunday, April 23, beginning with refreshments at 1 pm, generously provided by Lorraine’s loving family. This year’s feature is a screening of Akhnaten by composer Philip Glass – an opera in three acts based on the life and religious convictions of the Egyptian pharaoh Akhenaten.
The Lorraine Weinberg Memorial Opera started in the spring of 2012 in honor of Lorraine Weinberg, who passed away in November 2011. She was an avid reader, a long time library patron, and a devoted fan of the library’s opera program, which was then a monthly event. Her family has graciously continued this annual program, which experienced an interruption from 2020-2022 due to pandemic limitations on gathering. We are pleased to resume this wonderful event and invite all in the community to attend.
