Queen of the Hudson Concert

Enjoy the Queen of the Hudson music series presenting vibrant concerts focusing on chamber music, early music, contemporary and new compositions.

This Saturday, January 21, 2012, a  reception begins at 6:30 p.m. and the concert starts promptly at 7:00 pm at 9-11 Chambers Street in Newburgh, NY 12550.

The Performers:

David Marks violin
David collaborates with many musicians and is an active performer of solo, chamber, and orchestral repertoire. His collaborations have taken him across the globe from Disney Hall in Los Angeles, California to Grosse Hall in Salzburg, Austria, to Moscow, Russia. Performances in New York City have been in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher, Alice Tully, and Bargemusic. David received both his Bachelor's and Master's degree in music from the Juilliard School. A native of Chicago, David now resides in New York City.

Sung-ah Han piano
Sung-ah Han is a Korean American musician with an educational background in piano performance and music education. For the past five years, Sung-ah has been involved with developing educational outreach and career development programs at The Juilliard School. Her interests include chamber music, composing, and managing programs in the performing arts.

Christine Kim cello

Grammy-nominated Korean American cellist, Christine Kim, is a graduate of the Juilliard School where she studied with Harvey Shapiro and Carter Brey. After making her debut at age 11 performing Saint Saens concerto, she was accepted into the studio of Ronald Leonard. Post-graduate studies included Maestro Mstislav Rostropovich, Professor David Geringas and Troels Svane. Ms. Kim's solo performances in Europe include both Haydn concertos and other works in Copenhagen, Munich and Florence. Also a versatile freelance artist in New York, she leads some of the best Broadway show orchestras today including Phantom of the Opera, South Pacific, and American Idiot to name a few. Christine has also worked with many pop artists including Mary J. Blige, Adele, Sheryl Crow, Pavarotti, and Andrea Bocelli, in 2008 Ms. Kim was honored with a Grammy nomination for her work with the crossover band, The East Village Opera Company. As Musical Coordinator, she has put together orchestras for Jeff Beck, Kanye West, U2, Fergie and Donna Summers as well as the T.V. series "Rubicon".





Proceeds go directly to the artists. A portion of the proceeds also support Old Town Cemetery and other restoration efforts led by the Newburgh Preservation Association (NPA) like the Dutch Reformed Church. To learn more about the NPA visit http://preservenewburgh.org
