The Future of Your Woods and Wildlife
The NYSDEC Hudson River Estuary Program and Cornell University Cooperative Extension are sponsoring a workshop for Orange County Forest Owners in the Western Hudson Highlands and Moodna Creek Watershed.
The Future of Your Woods and Wildlife
October 29, 2011, 8:00am - 4:30pm at the Black Rock Fish & Game Club, 1701 Route 32, Mountainville, NY.
The workshop will offer a series of presentations from Cornell University, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Black Rock Forest Consortium, Hudson Highlands Land Trust and Orange County Land Trust.
Topics will cover various landowner concerns, including:
Forest Ecology
Forest Management and Regeneration
Cost-Share Programs
Conservation Easements
Impacts of the invasive Emerald Ash Borer
Whether landowners have 10 acres or 500 acres, their stewardship and management decisions affect the quality of their woods and their property. This workshop will provide
information, tools, and resources to help landowners care for their woods, the wildlife that live there and the large forests of the Western Hudson Highlands.
An outdoor woods walk will provide examples of forest succession, invasive species, wildlife habitat, cutting regimes and other stewardship considerations.
Registration is $15 and includes lunch and workshop materials. For more information on the workshop or to register, contact Kristi Sullivan at [email protected] or Laura Heady at [email protected].
