On Saturday, July 13 at 10 a.m. the Nature Museum will be hosting: Hummingbirds. Come to the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum’s Outdoor Discovery Center, on Muser Drive across from 174 Angola Road to learn about those little “flying jewels”, the Hummingbirds. Through a brief slide show, learn about hummingbird anatomy and adaptations plus how easy it is to attract hummingbirds to your yard. “Only the Ruby Throated hummingbird lives and breeds in New York. Female hummingbirds build walnut sized nests from spider webs, moss and plant down,” said Pam. “Females can raise two broods of babies each summer, laying two tiny bean sized eggs with each brood.” Take a walk with Pam to identify plants that attract Hummingbirds and possibly see Hummingbirds feeding. Participants will take home a free wildflower to attract hummingbirds to their yard. Limit one per family. Hummingbird feeders available for purchase in the Museum’s giftshop. For adults with or without children and children ages 5 and up. Admission: $7/Adults - $5/Children. Museum Members: $5/Adults - $3/Children.
