Lecture: Sculpture & Landscape
"Sculpture and Landscape at Storm King Art Center" is the subject of the annual Steinthal Lecture at Mount Saint Mary College, November 3 at 4 p.m. The free public event will be held in Curtin Memorial Library on the campus at 330 Powell Avenue, Newburgh.
Storm King docent Barbara Perry will present a slide show and information about the more than 100 carefully sited sculptures at the 500-acre outdoor art park where the fields, hills, and woodlands provides a natural setting.
Perry, who has a master’s degree from SUNY Fredonia, taught English at Cornwall High School for many years.
The Steinthal Lecture, established in memory of Dr. Eric Steinthal, was funded by his son, Nicholas. The senior Steinthal was a noted Newburgh physician who died in 1986. He taught religion, philosophy, literature and art in the college’s continuing education department for 27 years.
The event is sponsored by the arts and letters department and Curtin Memorial Library at Mount Saint Mary College.
