Historian Dr. Andrew Smith looks at the largely forgotten and overlooked institution of the local train station.
The West Shore Railroad Line ran from New Jersey, up the Hudson River, north along the west shore of the river to Albany, and on to Buffalo. When the West Shore Line ceased operation in 1959 along with it went may train stations. Unfortunately, most of them are now long since demolished, but several of those that remain will be be discussed in this program. Included is a presentation by the Railroad Playhouse, dedicated to the preservation of Newburgh's historic West Shore Railroad Station.
