Veteran's Day
Veteran's Day began as Armistice Day to commemorate the ending of combat in World War I. Since 1954, it has been known as Veteran's Day to honor all those who have served in the Armed Forces. In keeping with this tradition, the Hall of Honor will conduct a brief ceremony and wreath laying at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 11th in commemoration of Veteran's Day. This ceremony will take place outside, weather permitting by the flag poles at the Hall of Honor.
At 2:30 the program will continue in the Hall of Honor program room, including a tribute to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Ia Drang, 14-17 November 1965. This battle was the first major battle between the People’s Army of Vietnam and U.S. Forces. The program will also recognize all veterans present Light refreshments will be served. Seating for this portion of the program is limited and reservations are strongly recommended. To make a reservation, please call 845-561-1765.
