Lecture: Medication & Young Adult Psychiatric Patients

The Center for Adolescent Research and Development at Mount Saint Mary College will host a lecture, “The Use of Medication in Treating Adolescents and Young Adults with Psychiatric Disorders,” on October 12 at 7 p.m. The free public event will be held in Whittaker Hall on campus, 330 Powell Avenue, Newburgh.

Dr. Randy Pardell, who was selected a Top Doctor in the Hudson Valley by Hudson Valley magazine and who has also been featured on Cablevision’s “Meet the Leaders” series, is the guest speaker.

Pardell established the TMS Center of the Hudson Valley and Riverview Psychiatric Medicine, PC with the goal of providing the highest quality psychiatric care addressing both physiological and psychological aspects. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is the latest technology used for treatment of resistant depression.
A board-certified psychiatrist, he is a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Pardell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and the New York University School of Medicine with honors.

He completed, with distinction, the master in pharmacology program sponsored by Neuroscience Education Institute. As a highly regarded lecturer, Pardell has educated fellow physicians and mental health clinicians on the latest pharmacologic and innovative treatments of psychiatric disorders.

Mount Saint Mary College’s Center for Adolescent Research and Development is a clearinghouse for research initiatives and also assists in research-based program development for schools, agencies, and families. The center was recently awarded a $5,000 grant from the Cestone Foundation to support the 2012 annual conference on emerging adulthood
