Hudson Highlands Nature Museum in Cornwall announces Summer Nature Camp and Open House
Nature and Science Exploration for Kids Ages 4-12 Every Week!
The Hudson Highlands Nature Museum is ready to greet summer campers! The Museum’s Nature Camp, for children from age four through twelve, takes place from June 28 until August 20. The beautiful setting, small group size, and experienced Hudson Highlands Nature Museum staff create a winning combination! Space is limited – please register early to avoid disappointment! “We are very excited about this year’s Summer Camp,” says Executive Director, Jackie Grant. “Our experienced staff members bring great strengths to this program and they enjoy sharing nature and the outdoors with children.” “Also, there is a 10% discount offered for Museum members who sign up by April 15 th, as well as a sibling discount.”
An open house is scheduled for Sunday, April 11 from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the Outdoor Discovery Center , entrance on Muser Drive , across from 174 Angola Road, Cornwall . Parents and potential campers can meet the counselors, tour the facilities, ask questions and find out how exciting a nature camp experience can be ! Camp registrations and Museum memberships can be taken at this event.
The Ramblers Program is for children aged four to six . This program meets in week long sessions at the Museum’s Outdoor Discovery Center . Half-day sessions are offered for children ages 4-5 mornings (8:45a.m.-11:15 a.m.) or afternoon (12p.m.-2:45 p.m.) A full-day program (8:45 a.m.-2:45 p.m.) has been added for children ages 5 and 6. Campers will enjoy nature adventures, hikes, crafts, games, music and fun. Every week will include a day at the Wildlife Education Center to meet live animals and another day of woodland hiking at a local destination, weather permitting. Parents provide transportation for off-site locations. Cost : Half-day: $140, Museum members: $110. Full-day: $265, Museum members: $220.
The Trekkers and Blazers Programs is for children aged seven to twelve . Campers enjoy weeklong, adventure packed programs filled with fun and exploration. This camp takes place at the Museum’s Outdoor Discovery Center, One day each week is spent exploring the Hudson River at Kowawese Unique Area in New Windsor and another day on an exciting field trip or a spectacular hike. Campers meet for a six hour day (9 a.m.-3 p.m.) each week and bring their own lunch, bottled water and snack. Transportation by chartered bus for field trips . Parents provide transportation to local off-site destinations. Cost : $285. Members: $240.
The Eco-Rangers Program is for children ages 12-15 - August 16-20 only . Eco-Rangers will start the week with three days of wilderness adventures including two day-long expeditions to Mohonk Preserve’s Labyrinth and River Kayaking with Storm King Adventure Tours. They will complete the week with one overnight stay sleeping under the stars with a hammock to keep! Dinner, s’mores, ice cream and breakfast included. This camp takes place at the Museum’s Outdoor Discovery Center , 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; 6 p.m. Thursday to 8 a.m. Friday. Cost: $325. Members: $295.
