Inspired by Storm King -- Could you build a better boat?
Sunday, August 2, 2009 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Celebrate the quadricentennial of Henry Hudson’s voyage up the Hudson River by joining artist Browning Kay on an exploration of the mysteries of Storm King Art Center. On the hillside where sculptures of Mark di Suvero and Alexander Calder stand, explorers will see monumental ship-like structures and floating forms that ignite the imagination. In a workshop after the walk, explorers can design new vessels for discovery.
Storm King Art Center is open 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Saturday evenings until September 5 the grounds remain open until 8:00 p.m. Open on Holiday Mondays: September 7 and October 12. Free admission on Summer Thursdays: July 30 and August 27. Closed Mondays (except Holiday Mondays) and Tuesdays. Picnics and food: Eat, drink, and relax under a shady tree or at a table in the designated picnic areas. Please, no cooking. Drinks and snacks are always available from vending machines. On weekends only, beverages, light lunch, and snacks are available for purchase at Woody’s Café at Storm King.
Admission: $10 – Adults; $9 – Seniors & College Students with Valid I.D.; $7 – K-12 Students; Children 5 and under free.
