| Christmas at the Hill Hold House Museum. |
Goshen, N.Y. - Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus and Commissioner Richard L. Rose of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation, in cooperation with the Friends of Hill-Hold and Brick House Museums, have announced that Hill Hold Museum will host its annual holiday opening on the weekends of December 12 and 13 and December 19 and 20. Saturday hours are 3 to 7 p.m. and Sunday hours are noon to 4 p.m.
Holiday visitors to Hill Hold, the 1769 homestead of Thomas Bull, will be greeted by the festive decorations adorning the home and the grounds. The event always instills the spirit of the holiday season in those who experience it.
Visitors will be greeted in the entrance hall with the fresh scent of evergreens. The holiday tree will grace the parlor with a collection of antique ornaments and a vast array of old fashioned toys. A small tabletop tree will be displayed in the upstairs bedroom and volunteers will be in the workroom busily creating old fashioned crafts.
Hill Hold’s Goosetown School will offer an opportunity for children to make an ornament and learn all about one room schools. Cider, cookies and story time will be offered in the basement kitchen. To complete the visit, jolly old St. Nick himself will greet visitors and pose for pictures with children of all ages.
Admission is $2 per child and $3 per adult. For more information about Hill Hold Museum, please contact Orange County Parks at 615-3830, or by email at [email protected] or visit www.hillholdandbrickhouse.org. Special events are co-sponsored by the Friends of Hill-Hold and Brick House and the Orange County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation. Hill-Hold Museum is located on Route 416 between Goshen and Montgomery.
