Mount Saint Mary College will present a lecture on light and color by astronomer Bob Berman at 8 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 12) in the Aquinas Science Lecture Hall. The public is welcome to this free lecture.
In his lecture, "Light and Color in the Universe: Mysteries and Oddities," Berman will discuss what light is, whether colors exist when no one is looking and nature's favorite color. His illustrated lecture will explore oddities and mysteries of light and quirks of human vision.
Berman is the science editor for the Old Farmers Almanac, a columnist and contributing editor for Astronomy magazine, a former columnist for Discover magazine, and author of five books. He has appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman and the Today show, among many others, and is heard weekly on National Public Radio's Weekend Edition.
The lecture is presented by Community Connections, a lecture series sponsored by Curtin Memorial Library, and the Division of Natural Sciences.
