Read Across America
Cornwall Public Library is celebrating the birthday of Dr. Seuss on Monday, March 2nd with three “drop-in” story times. March 2nd is also the day the National Education Association has selected as the day to pick up a book and read to a child through their Read Across America event.
The Story Times are scheduled as follows:
10:30 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. – Preschoolers
4:15 p.m. – ‘Everafters’ – longer Dr. Seuss tales for the afterschool crowd
The National Education Association annually sponsors Read Across America. Now in its 12th year, the program focuses on how important it is to motivate children to read in addition to helping them master basic skills.
The nationwide reading celebration takes place each year on or near March 2nd, the birthday of children’s author Dr. Seuss. Across the country thousands of schools, libraries, community centers, and more participate by bringing together kids and books.
