George Washington's Birthday Celebration
GEORGE WASHINGTON’S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION GOES VIRTUAL!
Washington’s Headquarters State Historic Site in Newburgh invites you to our annual George Washington’s Birthday Celebration. Each year, Washington’s Headquarters brings together offerings for a variety of ages and interests. This year is no different. To keep “Covid Safe,” it will again be VIRTUAL! On February 19th, 20th and 21st, our celebration of the General’s Birthday will take place as free online events each day, accessible on YouTube by searching for Palisades Interstate Parks Commission Television.
Balladeer Thad McGregor offers musical entertainment. Mount Vernon’s Research Historian, Mary Thompson, speaks about the enslaved people Washington brought to Newburgh. Enjoy classical music with The Salmagundi Consort. Visit with Martha Washington as she discusses her life. Listen to a conversation between General Washington and Brigadier General Anthony Wayne… and all the while enjoy it from the safety and comfort of your home!
As a special treat, The Washington Project:2022 will be performed. Watch students from the Hudson Valley area present interpretations of Washington’s Headquarters and Revolutionary War history through their student-created theatrical performance pieces.
