Orange County Land Trust Launches Membership Drive

Orange County Land Trust Launches Membership Drive

Membership “Kick-off” Cocktail Reception Set for Oct 1 in Warwick

The Orange County Land Trust will launch its first Membership Drive this fall with a mailing to individuals and businesses throughout Orange County beginning in mid-September, followed by a cocktail reception for members and prospective members on Friday, October 1.

Individuals, families and businesses concerned with the preservation of our open spaces, natural resources and working farms are invited to become members of the Orange County Land Trust. Individual memberships are just $50 for one year and business memberships are $150. A convenient online membership form is available at www.oclt.org.

“This membership drive will be the cornerstone of the Land Trust’s financial stability and future growth and will help Orange County remain a beautiful place to live and do business,” said Mary Yrizarry, president of the Orange County Land Trust. “We are hoping that many households and businesses will support the important work that we do in protecting our working farms and wildlife habitats for future generations.” She added that “together, our members can make a big difference in how this county will look in the years to come.”

Members will receive an OCLT car decal, a subscription to Open Space News - the Land Trust’s bi-annual publication, monthly conservation e-news updates, and invitations to local member events and nature outings.

A Membership “Kick-off” Cocktail Reception will be held on Friday, October 1 from 5:30-7:30 pm at Stone Bridge Station, 30 Wisner Road in Warwick. The cost is $25 per person, but free to members and for those who sign up to be members at the event. The Membership “Kick-off” Cocktail Reception will feature local food, wine and music.

For more information on membership and to RSVP to the reception, contact Nicole Carroll at (845) 343-0840, x11 or [email protected]. To view or download the Land Trust’s membership brochure online, visit www.oclt.org.

Since its inception nearly two decades ago, the Orange County Land Trust has protected more than 3,500 acres of land, including ten working farms and ten nature preserves, eight of which are open to the public free of charge for hiking, birding and nature study. The Land Trust leads educational nature programs throughout the year, as well as guided hikes and other recreational outings for people of all ages. In addition, the Land Trust advocates for open space protection on the national and state levels, partners with many local organizations on conservation initiatives, and provides planning assistance to municipalities.
