Oldies on the Hudson
Washington Headquarters rocks with the music of The Platters from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Back in the days when 33 and 78 meant record speeds, "The Platters" were harmonizing songs of love, happiness and tears. If you'd like to recapture the era or create happy memories, come to Washington's Headquarters, in Newburgh, for WGNY 1220 FM Family Day "Oldies on the Hudson."
The free, fun, family program begins at 12:30 with a performance by "The CHiLLS," a Newburgh-based group, followed by the rocking rhythm of "The Platters." Pull up a blanket or chair on the lawn of the historic Hasbrouck House and enjoy the easy listening music with the Hudson River providing a breathtaking backdrop.
During the course of the day, tour the Headquarters and Museum, and take home some tunes to hum and tales to tell about General Washington. In 1850, the Headquarters was designated the first publicly owned and operated historic site in the nation.
Admission to this musical event and the historic site is free, made possible by promotional support from WGNY 1220 FM, Affinity Health Plan, Citizens Bank, and the Friends of the State Historic Sites of the Hudson Highlands.
Washington's Headquarters State Historic Site is located at the corner of Liberty and Washington Streets in Newburgh, New York. For more information, please contact Kathleen Mitchell - 8 45-562-1195.
