USMA Glee Club Concert
The Cadet Glee Club of the U.S. Military Academy, under the direction of Constance Chase and accompanied by pianist Eunha Chung, will present its annual Graduation Concert at 7:30 p.m., in the Eisenhower Hall Ballroom.
The Graduation Concert is a highlight of the Glee Club's concert season, honoring the graduating cadets, and celebrating an eventful year. The program will open with sacred works by composers Arvo Pärt, Damijan Monic, Pavel Chesnokov, H.T. Burleigh and others. The USMA Cadet String Ensemble will join the Glee Club in the first half of the program to perform the Thomas Tallis motet, If Ye Love Me, and the Nick Glennie-Smith anthem, Mansions of the Lord.
A Cadet Showcase will highlight talented soloists from the graduating class and the male a cappella group The Knight Caps. The concert's finale will feature the patriotic and military selections for which the Glee Club is renowned, including the Armed Forces Medley, the Battle Hymn of the Republic, and the beloved songs of West Point.
The public is cordially invited to attend this concert, free of admission. Please join the Cadet Glee Club as it celebrates another successful season. Highlights of its many activities this year include: a joint concert at USMA with the Rutgers University Glee Club, several New York City appearances, concert trips to the Catskills and to Farmington Hills, Michigan, and two recording projects: one for country artist Trace Adkins’ forthcoming CD and one with pianist Marina Arsenijevic for the forthcoming PBS special: Unity through Diversity: Marina at West Point.
Allow extra travel time for the 100% vehicle and photo I.D. inspection at Stony Lonesome and Thayer gates. Due to changing security requirements at West Point, call the Academy Band’s hotline at 845-938-2617, or check www.usma.edu/special before leaving for the concert.
