Solar Cars and An Inconvenient Truth
At 6:30 p.m., the Cornwall Democratic Club and County Representative Chris Eachus will present a DVD about the solar-powered vehicle that Newburgh Free Academy students raced from Texas to New York in 2007. Unfortunately, the solar car itself has been sent to California to appear in a Discovery Channel production. This is the first in a series of "Adapting to the New Energy Age" forums presented by the Cornwall Democratic Committee.
At 7 p.m. Al Gore's film, "An Inconvenient Truth" will be presented a Munger Cottage. The film wil be introduced by Simon Gruber, a COH resident and conservationist who will lead a discussion after the showing.
A second energy forum will be held on June 19 at 7 p.m when a 20-minute short film entitled "The Story of Stuff" will be presented at Munger Cottage. Discussion will be facilitated by Shawn Dell Joyce, founder of the Wallkill River Art school and an environmental writer for the Times-Herald Record. The public is welcomed to this free event. Again, "BYOP"...bring your own popcorn!
The Cornwall Democratic Committee meets the 3rd Thursday of every month at 7:30pm during the summer months and 7:00PM during the winter months at Munger Cottage in RIverlight Park. All are welcome. Committee reserves the right to meet in Executive Session as deemed appropriate prior to or following public meetings. For more information call 534-5383 or visit our website atwww.cornwalldems.org.

My mother-in-law years ago said the world wasn't her problem she was going to leave it up to her grandchildren to clean it up. Its that kind of thinking that has gotten us to the point that we are at now. Dirty, items that the earth can't handle, more cancer then ever along with other diseases, etc. It's time we gave serious thought to what we are doing to our world. After all the only ones that are making a profit are the ones who produce the hazardous materials and pollution. We need to make a difference now so our children and those after have a cleaner world to live in.
