Summer Solstice Show and Tell
The Orange County Arts Council will celebrate the beginning of summer by hosting a Summer Solstice Show and Tell, as part of its Creative Contacts series, on Thursday, June 25, from 6:30-9pm at the Arts Council offices in Sugar Loaf. Light fare will be served from 6:30-7:30pm. Beginning at 7:30pm artists will have two-three minutes in which to address the audience and talk about what they do, and networking opportunities will follow. Artists are encouraged to bring examples of their work to share during the networking portion of the evening. The cost is $10 for the general public, or free for artist and organization members. The Orange County Arts Council is located at the Seligmann Estate, 23 White Oak Drive in Sugar Loaf.
Creative Contacts is a series of artist networking events that encourage collaboration, cooperation and sharing resources. Board President Gary Schuster states that, “Orange County is very large and, for the most part, quite rural. Artists spend long hours in the studio by themselves. What the Arts Council hopes to achieve through Creative Contacts is to get the artists out of their studios, meet creative people from other disciplines, initiate a dialogue, and have a little fun while doing so.”
The Orange County Arts Council is a non-profit arts service organization dedicated to strengthening the Arts in Orange County by providing educational, promotional and informational services to artists, arts organizations and the community. The Council also works to facilitate relationships between the arts, schools, businesses, government and the public through its various programs. These include: Arts for Vets, Arts in Education, Annual Arts Awards, Advocacy, discounted Health Insurance, Workshops & Seminars and Town Meetings & Artist Mixers.
