Obituaries: Joseph H. Foris

March 23, 2022

JOSEPH H. FORIS
December 9, 1949 – March 21, 2022
Cornwall, NY

Joseph “Joe” H. Foris, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on March 21, 2022 at his home. He was 72 years old.

The son of the late Joseph John Foris and Henriette Jane (Kaner) Foris, Joe was born on December 9, 1949 in Queens, NY.

Joseph was a retired Master Sergeant with USMA – Military Band at West Point, NY. He honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army from 1976 – 1994. Joe later went on to become a Registered Nurse/Nurse Administrator for Rockland Psychiatric Center in Orangeburg, NY.

Joe was a longtime member of the Ski Patrol at West Point as well as other ski resorts locally. He was a proud Member of the Cornwall Volunteer Ambulance Corps., along with his wife Melody, for many years. Joe’s integrity was his most endearing trait. His willingness to always be available to lend a helping hand to friends and family will never be forgotten. In addition to his love of sailing, Joe’s fondest times were spent walking the beach hand in hand with Melody in North Topsail Beach in North Carolina.

Joe is survived by his loving wife and best friend: Melody A. (Lewis) Foris at home; by his step-son: Jason Bates of Cornwall, NY; his sisters-in-law: Michelle Marchese and Maurine Edwards; his nieces: Crystal and Ashley Edwards; his nephews: Casey and Richie Edwards; and Laura Wickware, who was like a daughter to our family.

Due to the public health concerns of the Corona Virus (Covid-19), a Celebration of Joe’s Life will be held at a later date. On behalf of the family, thank you for your understanding and support during this difficult time.

Memorial contributions for Joe may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, New York 10306 or to the Cornwall Volunteer Ambulance Corps., PO Box 151, Cornwall, NY 12518.

Arrangements are entrusted to Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc.; to send condolences, please go to www.Quigleybros.com
