Obituaries: James T. Roach

June 25, 2019

 James “Jim” T. Roach, a 58 year resident of Cornwall, NY, entered into rest on June 17, 2019 at the St. Lucie Medical Center, Port St. Lucie, FL. He was 91. The youngest of five children, he was born in Shawangunk, NY to John and Edna Nesbitt Roach.

Jim served in the US Navy during WWII and the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He felt privileged to have been on the Southeastern FL Honor Flight to Washington, DC in 2013. He was a lifetime member of the New Windsor American Legion.He worked at NYMA before retiring from the IBEW Electrical Worker’s Union Local 363.

He loved his bagpipes and being a member of the McLeod Scottish Clan and their marching band. For many years he was involved with BSA – first with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He was Pack Commissioner in 1971 in the Hudson-Delaware Council. He was also considered an honorary leader, along with his late wife Anne, of Wendy’s Girl Scout Troop.

His has been a full life with many accomplishments and travels – now his final trip home to Cornwall.

Survivors include: his loving wife Marge Mignone Roach; daughter Wendy Anne O’Dell (Bill); son Herb; stepsons: Tommy, Kevin and wife Kathy, Gerard and Francis; 3 step grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; 5 generations of nieces and nephews; plus his special cousin, Jim Shields. He was predeceased by his first wife of 34 years, Anne Haight Roach; his brothers Harold, John, Jr. (Buster), and George; and by his sister Eleanor Gramps.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at 2pm at his son Herb’s in Cornwall – under a tent, which Jim would love. All friends are welcome.
