CCHS Drama Club Presents...

CCHS Drama Club Presents Spamalot
CCHS Drama Club Presents Spamalot

Cornwall Central High School to Stage Tony Award-Winning Musical

New Windsor, New York | March 4, 2019 — Cornwall Central High School (CCHS) is thrilled to bring one of the most popular and hilarious Broadway farces of all time to its stage this spring. For the first time, the CCHS Music Department and Drama Club will produce Monty Python’s Spamalot. With a production of over 100 students (on stage, back stage, and in the pit) and a 1000–seat theater, CCHS supports its talented theater students with state-of-the-art facilities that ensure an unforgettable show.
CCHS Music Department Chair and Director of the Drama Club, Anthony Ravinsky, says the 2019 production will be unlike any other the CCHS ensemble has staged before: “This fast paced farce keeps the 85 member cast running the entire time.  Each cast member is in multiple numbers and has over 3 costume changes to portray all of the characters in the classic movie.”
Spamalot tells the legendary tale of King Arthur’s quest to find the Holy Grail. Inspired by the classic comedy film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the musical also diverts a bit from more traditional versions of the legend. Instead, Spamalot features shenanigans including flatulent Frenchmen, killer rabbits and Laker Girls.  Throughout the show, Arthur, traveling with his servant Patsy, recruits several knights to accompany him on his quest, including Sir Bedevere, Sir Robin, Sir Lancelot, and Sir Galahad. They meet such characters as the Lady of the Lake, Prince Herbert, Tim the Enchanter, Not Dead Fred, the Black Knight, and the Knights who say Ni.  Spamalot won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2005.
The musical’s score, composed by Eric Idle and John Du Prez, includes several favorite sing-along numbers like “Song that goes like this,” “Knights of the Roundtable,” and “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.”
Refreshments will be offered during a 15 minute intermission, along with their annual Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS fundraiser.  Handicap accessible parking, entrance, and seating is available.
