General News: Woman Fatally Shot in Chest

At approximately 6:05 pm Friday evening, Town of Cornwall Police and State Police responded to a report of an accidental shooting on Sycamore Street, Salisbury Mills, NY. New York State Police issued a statement stating that Kristi L. Babcock,age 30, suffered a fatal gunshot wound while handling a legally owned pistol belonging to her boyfriend Christian J. Benson.
Reportedly the victim was transported to the Cornwall Campus of the St. Luke's-Cornwall Hospital by ambulance.
On scene were the Town of Cornwall Police along with Village of Cornwall on Hudson Police, New Windsor Police, Washingtonville Police and the New York State Police. Cornwall Volunteer Ambulance Corps (COVAC) was also on scene.
The investigation is continuing.
