General News: Library Adds Frick Collection Passes

August 02, 2013

CORNWALL, NY – Cornwall Public Library has added the Frick Collection to the museum passes available for use by Cornwall Library card holders. The Frick Collection pass, which allows two adults to tour the museum, was an anonymous donation to the Library.

The Frick Collection is internationally recognized as a premier museum and research center. It is known for its distinguished Old Master paintings and outstanding examples of European sculpture and decorative arts. The collection was assembled by the Pittsburgh industrialist Henry Clay Frick (1849–1919) and is housed in his former residence on Fifth Avenue. One of New York City’s few remaining Gilded Age mansions it provides a tranquil environment for visitors to experience masterpieces by artists such as Bellini, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Gainsborough, Goya, and Whistler. The museum opened in 1935 and has continued to acquire works of art since Mr. Frick’s death.

Other museum passes available at the Library are: Storm King Art Center, the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, the New-York Historical Society, and The Guggenheim Museum. For information about how to borrow a museum pass, please call the library at 534-8282 or e-mail Rosaleen Leahy at [email protected].
